The K/D Salmon Tournament is an amateur chinook-only tournament that runs for 9 consecutive days each summer. The largest summer fishing tournament on the Great Lakes set a record in 2016 with over 3000 total anglers participating. The 2017 tournament dates are July 22 – July 30.
The heaviest fish caught will win the lucky fisherman $10,000 CASH. Last year’s top fish, 35.46 pounds, was the heaviest since 1999 so it may just take a 30-plus-pounder to win the top prize this year. There are also 45 daily port prize packages plus a payout that goes 100-200 places deep, depending on the year.
Get your tickets — $25 for the entire tourney, or a $13 daily chance — at Lakeshore Lighthouse and Kewaunee Marina in Kewaunee, the BP gas station and convenience store in Algoma, Greystone Castle and Howie’s Tackle in Sturgeon Bay, Baileys 57 in Baileys Harbor, Jungwirth Ace Hardware in Sister Bay and Kap’s Marina on Washington Island.
