The travel site Expedia.com’s ® travel blog ViewfinderTM, set out on a mission to pinpoint the most beautiful town in every state that may not be on everyone’s radar.
Under this category, they named Algoma the most beautiful town in Wisconsin!
Nestled on the western shore of Lake Michigan, we tend to get bypassed by travelers heading to Door County via Route 57, sometimes feeling like the ‘Radiator Springs’ of Northeast Wisconsin.
But for those who take the road less traveled, they are amazed at the beauty of our lakeshore town. People will walk in the Visitor Center, located at the south end of Crescent Beach and the handicap-accessible boardwalk, and cannot say enough about our million-dollar view.
Algoma is home to the best sport-fishing on Lake Michigan, one of the largest parades in Northeast Wisconsin, concerts all summer, festivals including Shanty Days and Soar on the Shore kiting event, a growing art scene, Wisconsin’s oldest winery and more!
The Visitor Center is just a hop and a skip from downtown so visitors can walk along the beach or park in town for free and walk to dozens of shops and restaurants. Lake Michigan and the Pierhead lighthouse are almost always within view.
We agree with the writers that there’s no shortage of beauty in this world and are very thankful they feel that Algoma, WI qualifies as such.
To help you plan your trip here, we will mail you a free Visitor Guide! While you are here, stop in the Visitor Center, share in the enjoyment of our million-dollar view and gather up dozens of brochures about what we have to offer.
