David Spiegelberg, (Regional Tourism Specialist, Wisconsin Department of Tourism), Sara Krouse, (Executive Director, Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce), and Jessica Diederich (Director of Partnerships & Business Development, Greater Green Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau )

David Spiegelberg, Regional Tourism Specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Tourism opened the session with an energetic overview of the impact of tourism in Wisconsin and how important it is to establish relationships with the people who stop in our town.

Jessica Diederich, Director of Partnerships & Business Development with the Greater Green Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau shared how the Green Bay CVB promotes Algoma to Green Bay visitors. Through a partnership with the Algoma Chamber of Commerce, the Green Bay CVB steers visitors to Algoma when people come to their Visitor Center looking for things to do outside of Green Bay. Algoma is also listed on their website and in their Visitor Guide. This partnership has proven very valuable in part due to the number of visitors that come to Green Bay looking for other things to do and see in the area. The Green Bay CVB is happy to send them our way!

The session concluded with Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sara Krouse giving an overview of many of the events and attractions that visitors could enjoy during the summer of 2017. The events list includes, but is not limited to, Farm Technology Days, Summer Concerts in the Park, the Farmers Market, Soar on the Shore Kiting event, and Shanty Days. You can check out our Calendar for a complete list!  A few of the attractions and activities mentioned included our world class charter fishing, Crescent Beach, the new trailhead planned for the Ahnapee State Trail, our awesome shops, and our Marina.

We are excited for the 2017 season and looking forward to welcoming visitors from near and far! The Algoma Visitor Center, located at 1226 Lake St. is currently open Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Our summer hours will start in June and we will be open seven days a week!
